DESCRIPTION:

PATRA captures the seductive and exotic world of Cleopatra.  This full-length musical is loosely based on the life-changing meeting between Octavian and Cleopatra in 30 BC.  Written in the classic Broadway style, the music is filled with memorable melodies and  north African dance rhythms.

The story begins with the streets of Alexandria in a panic. Distant drumming announces the advancing Roman army. General Octavian trumpets the defeat and death of his rival Marc Antony - Cleopatra's husband. The villainous Octavian is determined to bring Cleopatra back to Rome as his slave. All seems lost but, Cleopatra is a survivor.  Patra is determined to save herself and her four children. After all, she is Pharaoh.  Her only hope is to win the heart of another Roman Consul and General - Octavian.  Can she do it?

With comedy, intrigue, disguises and an epic battle of wills, this musical reveals the woman behind the legend... her hopes, her dreams, her smarts, and her love for her children and the men in her life. Because of Patra, Octavian is forever changed... he becomes Augustus Caesar.
